A funeral celebrant is a qualified person who performs a funeral service. This is known as ‘officiating’ or to put it simply, 'a person who leads a ceremony'. This is different to a religious officiant, such as a member of the clergy. Celebrants are not linked to any specific religious beliefs, rather the ceremony is a celebration of the life of the person who has departed. Funeral celebrants typically help organise and conduct funerals and help support the bereaved family or friends every step of the way.
